What Is a Prosthodontist?

Many dental problems can be corrected by a general dentist, but more complex dental issues may require specific expertise, or a coordinated approach involving one or more dental or medical specialists.

A Prosthodontist is a dentist that specializes in dental implants, aesthetics, and reconstructive dentistry. They also frequently act as the team leader in cases requiring multiple specialists. Prosthodontics is one of nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA), and less than 2% of dentists are Prosthodontists.

Your Littleton Area Prosthodontist for over 20 Years!

To become a Prosthodontist, a dentist must complete an additional three years of formal training after dental school in an accredited hospital or university-based prosthodontics program.Graduate programs in prosthodontics include advanced laboratory and clinical training in aesthetics and cosmetics, dental crowns and bridges, tooth veneers, dentures, partial dentures, dental implants, tooth wear, jaw joint problems, traumatic injuries to the mouth, congenital or birth anomalies of the teeth and jaws, sleep disorders, oral cancer reconstruction, and repair of catastrophic tooth loss due to accident or injury.

The skills required to treat complex dental situations also benefit our patients with less severe dental needs. From a simple dental filling or routine tooth cleaning, to the most complex dental reconstruction, each problem is addressed with the same care and attention to detail.
